Challenges

At first, the website was ranking for random keywords which were not relevant to the business.


There were also critical issues with the site, which had to be fixed.


The client was anticipating to boost sales from the courses or books, as well as enquires for the services that she offers.


In short the website wasn’t performing as there was no SEO work being done before.

Why they chose to work with us

MarketingTech was referred to the client through a trusted business contact. We took time to understand the client's business model and her goals, had numerous conversations about how SEO could help the website, and explained how we would work in a systematic fashion.


Since we were not familiar with the platform from which her website was built, we took time to research and made enquiries with the platform's technical support team in order to ascertain the level of SEO work that could be conducted. Armed with the research, we were then able to reassure the client on the amount of SEO we could carry out on her website.


SEO marketing goals

Although the client was based in the UK, she wanted the website to prioritise the US market, in particular the Californian market for SEO traffic, as there was more demand for the services that she offers in the US over the UK.


The client’s goals were to

  • Sell courses, books and other merchandise on the website
  • Get US based searches for her services
  • Promote her Corporate Training and Consultancy to organisations


Outcome

There is little demand for searches around the courses and books on the topics related to digital parenting. As a compromise, we created loads of new content such as blog posts to direct traffic to the courses and books sold online.


We also fixed all SEO-critical issues on the site and gave our input to a major redesign of the website.


As a result, the website went from ranking for 1-2 keywords to ranking on page 1 for 20 relevant keywords within 6 months. There is a healthy flow of traffic and click throughs on the website, which resulted in

  • Some courses sold, although we were limited by the low volume of searches
  • Substantially increased US traffic to the company’s Google page
  • As a result of the higher US traffic, the client received enquiries for her Corporate consultancy and training work, and subsequently secured two engagements with US companies within a year of engaging us


Marketing success

Through MarketingTech’s efforts in testing and tweaking the SEO strategy, the client achieved online success in an area where there was limited consumer demand, but greater and higher value corporate demand, on Google.
